Boy oh boy! The baby is growing. At the end of November I went to a cold-weather night Broncos game. I always wear one of those portable back heating pads to keep my core warm. It barely fit around my waist, but it did. On Sunday, I went to another cold night game, and the same size heating pad only made it to the sides of my belly. It wasn't even close. It's crazy how much my belly has grown in a month.
On Monday I went out to Kohls and Target for maternity clothes and found nothing. So yesterday Shamus and I went to Old Navy and I got some jeans, a couple of shirts, a light jacket, and some fleece pants. It's funny how much more pregnant you look when you're wearing maternity clothes. They definitely accentuate the belly.
We also went and started the registry yesterday. That is an overwhelming process, and we definitely are not done. They told us to put everything on there, even if we couldn't decide between two different models. So we did. I need to get back in there and sort through some things. We have about 6 different cribs on there right now as a way to save them until we know which one we will buy. One nice thing about BabiesRUs is that they give you 10% back in gift cards from everything bought on your registry. So I think we will buy most everything off of there, even if we are planning to purchase it ourselves (like nursery furniture).
I finally decided on a theme for the nursery: beach. For anyone who knows me, this is not surprising in the slightest. I'll do gray and white with some pops of teal and yellow until we see what the little monkey will be. Then we can bring in more blues or corals. So it's nice to have that decided, and I imagine in the next couple months we will get more serious about setting the room up.
Sleep: Sleep has been ok. I'm really disliking sleeping with a pillow between my legs, but I do think it's helping. I still wake up on my back at times, but I'm waking up feeling more or less refreshed but a little sore. My energy seems to be back for the most part, but I'm also still trying to catch up from the December madness. I'm really hoping that in the next few days, I can take a day and do nothing. That still hasn't happened yet.
Most Exciting Moment: Shamus felt the baby last night!! It was really fun for him to finally feel it. We were laying in bed, and I put his hand where I could feel the baby flopping around. He felt it move around a few times and push against his hand. The baby definitely seems to be more active when I'm laying down at night.
Baby is the Size of a: Spaghetti squash
Miss Anything? Kind of a recap of what I've missed before: no daily shots in my bruised belly, cold cut sandwiches, sleeping normally. I don't really miss alcohol, although we will see how that is when I'm around intoxicated people tomorrow night. Obviously I won't be drinking regardless.
Happy New Year!! Be safe and best wishes for 2016! I think it's going to be a great year for us!
