Yesterday when I picked him up from daycare, I was talking with Kathleen and he was on the floor in the front room. There's a step to get up to the front door, which is where the kitty was. Like it was no big deal, Hunter pulled up on the step, swung one leg up and then the other one and then crawled over to the front door. Holy moly. I was in shock and awe. So now it's time to put a baby gate at the bottom of the stairs, too. He is growing leaps and bounds every day!
One of Hunter's favorite new things to do is to put his toys away. I love this. He has a bucket with shapes, and it has a lid that you're supposed to match up the shapes with. However, if I take the lid off the bucket, he loves to dump the shapes out and then put them back into the bucket. We also have a basket downstairs with his toys in it, and he loves to take toys out and put them back into the basket. It's awesome. I'm hoping that it lasts!
This last week was so warm that we stopped putting him in his sleep sack overnight. I've also started putting a blanket and a stuffed animal in his crib during nap time, especially his afternoon nap. He doesn't usually fall asleep nursing, so he needs a little help going to sleep. Somehow the blanket and animal do the trick! He usually lays on top of the blanket since he sleeps on his tummy, but whatever works!
Speaking of nursing, I'm starting the weaning process. I'm about 75% ready to be done and 45% so sad with tears in my eyes that I won't be doing this with him anymore. I'm planning to cut out one feeding/pumping per week and replacing with a bottle of breast milk I have stored in the freezer. So I should be done by his birthday. I'm taking the weaning process really, really slow because I definitely don't want to get mastitis again. So I tell myself to cherish each nursing session we have left and watch him, etc. But usually I just hop onto my phone or watch tv. Maybe I'll get a little more attentive in a couple of weeks. Ha!
